SPURS have told Sunderland to cough up £18MILLION for Darren Bent.
The striker heads Steve Bruce's transfer list and SportMail understands he would be receptive to a move to the Stadium of Light, having come close to a deal in January.

But Spurs will not make it easy for the speedy England forward to leave White Hart Lane, which could be frustrating for new Sunderland manager Bruce and his Tottenham counterpart Harry Redknapp, who is keen to release funds for new signings.

Most reports have placed Bent in the £10-12million category – a price that would not deter the Wearsiders.

But a report today that the price is £18million is likely to delay a move and now it could be a case of sitting tight to see who blinks first.

The transfer window opens on July 1 and most top flight clubs return to pre-season training within a week of that.
