Spurs suffer early set-back

Champions League hopefuls Tottenham suffered a 4-1 defeat in their pre-season friendly at home to Spanish side Villarreal.

Harry Redknapp's side were caught cold early on at White Hart Lane as former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi scored two first-half goals.

The Spurs boss rang the changes at half-time and saw Giovanni Dos Santos pull a goal back for his side.

However, a deflected Rossi strike and Marco Ruben's late goal secured a resounding win for the Yellow Submarine.

A hugely inexperienced Chelsea XI went down 5-1 at Wycombe.

Jon-Paul Pittman was the star of the night at Adams Park as he scored a four-minute hat-trick.

Chelsea, whose seniors are about to depart on a trip to Germany, fielded a side in which Franco Di Santo and Scott Sinclair were the only familiar faces.
