A CHARITY event is being held in memory of a brave mum who should be celebrating her 40th birthday this weekend.

Susan Ward lost her three-year battle with breast cancer just two days after her third wedding anniversary in March.
Now her loving family is holding a fundraising event to raise cash in her memory to mark her 40th birthday on Sunday.

The event
is being held at the Fir Tree in Durham Road, Wingate, tonight to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support which provided care for Susan and her family during her illness.

Susan died aged just 39, leaving behind children Joshua Bell, 16 and Abi Bell, 13, as well as stepson Danny Sloan, 13.

Her family and friends will all be attending tonight's event, including her husband Antony, 34, who she married on March 24, 2006, two months after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Tonight's event will see performances from three local singers, a raffle and a buffet.

It is one of many fundraising events the family is organising after charity football match last Sunday in Wingate to raise even more cash for Macmillan.

The entry to the latest fundraiser is free, but the family is asking for donations which are to go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

For more information contact The Fir Tree on (01429) 837135.
