Four members of staff went an extra 15 mile and carried out a sponsored walk from police headquarters to Seaham seafront in order to raise additional funds.
Deputy Chief Constable, Jo Farrell, said: “We’re delighted with the support we’ve received from across the force. It shows a strong family ethos and a real desire to raise as much money as possible for a great cause.”
Force Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Margaret Toward, said: “It’s fantastic seeing colleagues enjoying walking and chatting with each other as this can be a tremendous boost to their physical and social wellbeing – supporting a great cause makes it even more special."

Last year’s event raised money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in memory of PC Gavin Smith, who lost his battle with cancer in 2017.
The money raised will be presented to St Cuthbert’s Hospice at the end of the year once all of the fund-raising events have taken place.
