Five jailed for drugs ring
FIVE men have been jailed for their involvement in a £300,000 organised crime ring to supply cocaine and amphetamine following a police swoop.
Brothers John and Mark Wallas, Lee Cope, David Breeze and Craig Francis were sentenced for their part in the conspiracy at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.
Their crimes began to unravel when Mark Wallas was stopped on the A689, in Newton Bewley, near Hartlepool, on October 30 last year while driving a Volkswagen Passat.
He was found with 38,000 in cash which led to his home in Hadleigh Walk, Ingleby Barwick, being searched.
At his home police found six kilos of amphetamines, three quarters of a kilo of crack cocaine, 100kg of bulking agent and evidence of crack cocaine and amphetamine production, including a number of gas masks.
Yesterday at Teesside Crown Court, John Wallas, 29, of Knebworth Court, Ingleby Barwick, was jailed for eight years with brother Mark, 25, now of Trent Avenue, in Thornaby, locked up for three.
Breeze, 25, of The Birches, in Middlesbrough, and Cope, 24, of Marton Road, Middlesbrough, were given two years and 18 months respectively for their part in the operation.
Francis, 26, from Victoria Road, Thornaby, got a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, with 200 hours community service.
