Canine fun for World Animal Day

DOG owners are being invited to take their pets along to a country park in Hartlepool for an afternoon of canine fun.

Summerhill Country Park, off Catcote Road, is hosting a Big Dog Day on Saturday, from 1pm to 4pm.

The event coincides with World Animal Day and there will be a range of attractions including dog training and agility demonstrations, pet care and grooming tips, competitions and dog shows.

Entry for the shows will be 50p per category, and all proceeds will be donated to local animal charities.

Summerhill manager Tony Davison said: "The event is open to dogs of all types and sizes, and we are hoping for a big turnout.

"There is no need to book but there is just one rule that we would ask owners to respect – all dogs must be kept on a lead."

For more information on the event, call Summerhill on (01429) 284584.
