Air ambulance called in after child is involved in collision with car on Sunderland street

Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called to Grindon at 7.40pm yesterday, Saturday, June 5, after reports a child had been hurt following a collision.
NEAS sent a paramedic crew to the scene and called in help from the air ambulance, which landed on grass off Gleneagles Road.

Hide AdA decision was made to then take the child to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle by road.
Photos show how the helicopter landed on a patch of grass between the junction of Greenwood Road and part of Gleneagles Road which leads to a cul-de-sac as part of the response.
Northumbria Police has confirmed only minor injuries were sustained in the incident and all those involved were spoken to at the scene by its officers.
