A RESIDENT woke to find two tyres on their car had been slashed.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the householder, from Nelson Close, Peterlee, discovered that the two rear tyres on their red T-reg Citroen Saxo had been slashed.

The incident is said to have happened between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Inspector Paul Harrison, of Peterlee Police, said: "The vehicle was parked on the street overnight and there is no suspect. The victim doesn't know why this happened."

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Peterlee Police on (0845) 6060365 or Crimestoppers anonymously on (0800) 555 111.
