FATE played a romantic hand when love blossomed for Michelle Chapman and Daniel Anderson.

The loving couple walked down the aisle at St James' Church, in Castle Eden, this year - but it all started in Crete four years earlier.

Michelle, 24, was on holiday with friends of hers and had booked into a hotel at Malia.

As she looked out over the balcony of her room, a group of lads including Daniel, 26, had just started their holiday in the hotel room next door.

Michelle recalled: "We just hit it off straight away.

"I was away with my girlfriends from the University of Teesside. Daniel is originally from Nottingham and he was away with his friends from there.

"We met on the first night of both our holidays. The rest is history."
The pair got talking and continued to be inseparable once the holiday ended.

For the first eight months of their romance, the couple commuted between North East England and Nottingham.

Michelle, who hails from Peterlee and works as a performance officer for Stockton Borough Council, also relived the day the man of her dreams proposed.

"It was on my 23rd birthday," said Michelle.

"He'd bought me some presents and the last one was a big box. It had a little box inside it and the ring was inside that.

"He proposed to me on one knee in his dressing gown. He had already asked my dad which I thought was lovely that he got his permission.
"All my friends used to laugh that it was a holiday romance that turned into something."

Daniel – a car sprayer who works in Hartlepool – and Daniel were joined for their big day by guests including best man Keith Hill, bridesmaids Kathryn Devine, Terri Willetts and Ashley Morris and usher Neil Hickling.

Their reception was held at Hardwicke Hall Manor Hotel, near Blackhall, and the couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Mexico. They have now set up home in Wingate.
