Disposing of asbestos
Published Date:
02 October 2008
I HAVE been following the letters on the disposal of asbestos.
Yes, I agree with bringing jobs to the area but not at the expense of people's lives.
You might think I'm being overly dramatic but I'm not.
I have been with my husband for 17 years and in that time he has attended an untold number of funerals of his friends and workmates.
The ages of these men have varied. But they were all laggers and worked for companies who had total disrespect for asbestos and their workforces.
My husband has been diagnosed with pleural plaques caused from his time with these companies.
A lot of these companies have used technicalities in the law to avoid having to compensate a lot of men or face prosecution.
Finally, please tell me, has this J Allan ever worked with or been exposed to asbestos? I bet not.
