A PERVERT who preyed on schoolgirls has been given a life sentence.
Alan Ginnever, 40 will serve a minimum of two and a half years in prison before being considered for parole.

Ginnever, of Queen's Avenue, Billingham had been found guilty of four sexual assaults and three counts of indecent exposure after a trial at Teesside Crown Court.

The court heard how he groped and exposed himself to a number of girls - one as young as nine – mainly around the Castle Eden Walkway area.

Sentencing him, Judge Tony Briggs said: "These offences have had a serious impact on all of the victims. What has happened has been the destruction of their sense of security and their ability to enjoy their freedom."

Afterwards, the mother of one of the victims said: "They are just not the same children. He has stripped them of their confidence."
